The Priviti Capital team brings together many years of experience and success in the oil & gas industry.  We have assembled a team that is widely known and respected for the senior leadership positions they have held in the oil & gas industry. Their insight and knowledge of the industry are key advantages in identifying and selecting the investments in the various Priviti Limited Partnerships.

Management Team

Ward Mallabone – President, Chief Executive Officer and Director

Ward Mallabone is the President, Chief Executive Officer and a Director of Priviti Capital Corporation.  Mr. Mallabone holds a law degree from the University of Calgary and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of British Columbia.   Ward was formerly one of the principles behind EnerVest Management Ltd. where he served as the Chief Operating Officer and Vice President Law prior to its sale in 2005.  EnerVest managed one of the largest closed-end funds in Canada, along with numerous mutual funds, closed-end funds and oil & gas flow-through limited partnerships.   Prior to his tenure at EnerVest, he was a partner at a longstanding Calgary law firm.  Mr. Mallabone is a native Calgarian with over 20 years of experience in the oil & gas industry.

Robert Vargo – Chief Operating Officer and Director

Robert (Bob) Vargo has 20+ years of experience in the global energy industry, including the areas of technology, financing and accounting. As a management consultant, he worked with oil & gas companies in Canada and around the world on analyzing finding and development costs, operating costs, general and administrative expenses, and drilling performance.  Mr. Vargo was previously the CFO for private oil & gas company in Calgary.  Mr. Vargo holds an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin and a BA in Russian Language and International Studies from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas.

Dave Ritchie – Vice President & Portfolio Manager

Dave Ritchie is responsible for financial analysis, oil and gas industry research, and evaluation of potential investment opportunities.  Prior to joining Priviti in 2011, Mr. Ritchie worked in the Transactions and Restructuring group at KPMG with a focus on business valuations. He holds a B. Comm from the University of Manitoba, and is a member of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants and the Canadian Institute of Chartered Business Valuators.

Diana Cuznetova – Controller

Since starting in the investment business in 2006, Ms. Cuznetova had held various accounting roles. Prior to joining Priviti Capital, she was Controller at Jennings Capital Inc.  Ms. Cuznetova holds a B. Comm (Finance) and a B. Comm (Marketing) from the Academy of Economic Studies in Moldova and is a member of the Certified General Accountants.

Board of Directors

Paul Colborne – Director

Currently the President, CEO and Chairman of Surge Energy Inc., and the Chairman and a director of Red River Oil. From October 2001 to August 2003, Mr. Colborne was the President and Chief Executive Officer of Crescent Point Energy Ltd., which, under his leadership, grew from a start-up with no production to a company with production in excess of 7,000 boe/d in less than two years.  He is widely regarded as one of the leaders in the Canadian oil & gas industry.  

Matthew Brister – Director

Mr. Brister is formerly the President and Chief Executive Officer of Chinook Energy. Mr. Brister is a registered Professional Geologist with 25 years of experience in Western Canada (Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, NWT), North Africa and the North Sea. Mr. Brister was the President and Chief Executive Officer of three successful junior oil & gas producers that were profitably grown and sold over the last 15 years. In that role, he gained valuable oil, gas, heavy oil and power project experience in generation, execution and management as well as capital markets experience in Canada and the United States.

Consultation Committee

Trimble Engineering Associates Ltd.

An Alberta-based company that has provided consulting services to the petroleum industry for 40 years.  Founded in 1971, it is comprised of a multi-disciplined and highly skilled team of professional engineers and engineering technologists, managed by Stephen Trimble, P.Eng. and Ron Pacholko, P.Eng. Trimble Engineering currently has a technical staff of 10 professionals, of which five have more than 30 years of experience each in the petroleum industry.

Dean Prodan

Mr. Prodan has acquired over 20 years of experience in the Canadian oil & gas industry and capital markets while at RBC Dominion Securities, Peters & Co. and FirstEnergy Capital Corp. (“FirstEnergy”).  He was a founding shareholder and Managing Director, Institutional Sales at FirstEnergy.  Mr. Prodan was previously the Portfolio Manager for the largest Flow-Through Fund in Canada.
